Leona P. Haer, 91, Oregon, Mo., formerly of Craig, Mo., died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Oregon Care Center.
Mrs. Haer was born in Craig Nov. 30, 1908, to Jim and Dolly Golden Barker. She graduated from Craig High School in 1927. She was a lifelong resident of the Craig area, moving to Oregon Care Center in 1999.
On Oct. 5, 1929, she married Roy Haer. He died in 1966.
She was a homemaker and worked as a nurses aide at Community Hospital, Fairfax, for more than 13 years. She was a member of the Craig Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school secretary.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Vernon; a daughter, Madonna Thurnau; and a sister, Catherine Tubbs.
Survivors include a son, James of Oregon; two daughters, Ramona Rhoades and Vicki Montgomery, both of Craig; five sisters, Dorothy Carlson of Beaverton, Ore., Addie Walden of Bigelow, and Hazel Rother, Cora Bell Yount and Lucille Stull, all of Mound City; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 29, at the Craig Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Chet Mason officiated.
Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, near Craig.
