Frank J RobbinsBorn Sep. 16, 1875
Died Oct. 10, 1928 in Craig, MO
"Frank Robbins, farmer, of Craig, about forty-eight years old, killed his brother, George Robbins, about fifty-two years old, also a farmer, then committed suicide by hanging late Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 10, 1928, on the farm of the third brother, Guy Robbins, about four miles southwest of here.
Frank Robbins, who had been in ill health for some time, is believed to have brooded over the fact that his brother soon was to be taken to State Hospital No. 2 at St. Joseph, and chose murder and suicide as a way out of the possible embarrassment.
The bodies were found by Guy Robbins, who, with his wife, returned home from Craig, where they had been shopping. George Robbins was found unconscious on a cot in the house with a wound in his head. A physician was called, but could be of no aid. Robbins died about 7:30 o\\\'clock Wednesday night.
The body of Frank Robbins was found by Mrs. Guy Robbins in a garage where he had suspended himself from a rafter with a piece of rope. The weapon with which he killed his brother is believed to have been a piece of gas pipe found in the garage.
DR. D.C. Perry of Mound City, coroner, was called to the scene, but said no inquest would be held. It was evident, according to Doctor Perry, that is was a case of murder and suicide.
George Robbins was unmarried while Frank Robbins had a wife and six living children. He married Anna Petree in 1902. Virginia, their eldest daughter is the wife of Don Stokes of Kansas City.
Arrangements were made Tuesday before members of the county court here to commit George Robbins to the state hospital at St. Joseph, and Sheriff Housewirth was to have taken him down Thursday."
