Marjorie Lorene Viets, 65, died Thursday, May 17, 1990, at Fairfax Community Hospital after a long illness.

Born near Falls City, Neb., July 22, 1924, to Mary Elizabeth (Sailors) and Emmett "Pete" Brooks. Mrs. Viets was a Southeast Nebraska-Northwest Missouri resident during most of life, including her twenty-eight years as an elementary teacher in area districts-Mayflower (Rock Port) 1943: Carlton, Neb., 1945; Maple Grove, Neb., 1955-57. Mrs. Viets taught fifth grade at Holt County R-II for eighteen of her nineteen years with the district from 1967-86. She also taught a private kindergarten in Craig from 1959-61. she belonged to the Missouri State Teachers Association.

Mrs. Viets, a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, married George J. Viets on Dec. 25, 1945, in Papillion , Neb., after previously graduating from Mound City High School in 1942 and attending Peru State Teachers College.

She is survived by her husband, George, of rural Corning, two sons, Daniel Viets, Columbia, Alan Viets, Excelsior Springs, and a daughter, Sheila, of the home; two brothers, William V. Brooks, Bellevue, Neb., and Thomas B. Brooks, Springfield; and two grandchildren.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Robert DenOuden at St. Joseph\\\'s Lutheran church, with interment at the Craig I.O.O.F. Cemetery on May 21.
