Gertrude B. Browning, 95, Mound City, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Tiffany Heights Care Center.
She was born Dec. 3, 1910, in rural Atchison county, the daughter of Leonard and Tena Guilliams Wright.
She attended Elk Dale rural school, Craig High School and graduated from Mound City High School in 1929. She then attended Platt Business College, St. Joseph, Mo.
she married Ransom Browning Jan. 13, 1932. They made their home on the Browning farm where they ran a farming operation. After Ransom\\\'s death Jan. 29, 1996,, Gertrude continued to reside on the farm until nearly six years ago when she became a resident of Tiffany Heights. She was a devoted wife and a gifted cook who found joy in entertaining family and friends.
She was a long-time member of the Mound City United Methodist Church and the Tuesday Club. Playing cards, gardening and shopping were among her favorite activities.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Perry, Harvey, Roby Jr. and Floyd Stone; and four sisters, Effie Bauman, Rachel Bougher, Irene Healzer and Helen Sandridge; and two infant siblings.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, with Father Allan Stetz officiating.
Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, Mo.
