Veteran Jesse O. "Jay" Yount Jr. was born near Fortescue, Missouri on November 30, 1925. He was one of six children of Jesse O. and Bessie L. (Goolsby) Yount.
Jay graduated from Mound City High School, and served in the United States Army during World War II. Jay lived and farmed in Holt County for nearly all of his life.
Jay passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at a Mound City care center at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Crist; and brother, Glen Yount.
Survivors include his sisters, Coleen White and Virginia Long, both of Mound City; brother, Samuel Yount of Des Moines, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Family visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Interment will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Craig.
