Benjamin Leon Quimby was born May 20, 1953 to Ralph and Patty (Cook) Quimby in Fairfax, Missouri. He passed away in Mesa, Arizona on September 5, 2017 at the age of 64.
Ben\'s family moved from Skidmore, Missouri to Phoenix, Arizona when his schoolteacher father was given a scholarship to ASU for his Master\'s Degree. In Phoenix, Ben attended Rose Lane grade school and graduated from Central High School in 1971. He went to Clendale Community College for two years.
Ben moved to Craig, Missouri in 1976 where he was close to both his sisters and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He spent some time working for the County and Sharp\'s For in Mound City. Ben moved back to Phoenix in October of 1977. There he was soon hired as an auto mechanic at Sears Fiesta Mall in Mesa. He worked there for 37 years, finally retiring in December of 2014.
Also in 1977, Ben resumed attendance at Faith United Methodist Church, where he and Janelle Getting got reacquainted, started dating, and were married on February 14, 1981. They bought their home in Mesa in 1989.
Ben had always loved nature and said that\'s where he felt closest to God. He went on many fishing trips to local Arizona Lakes, had periodic camping trips with Janelle and her parents. Ben visited national parks and gardens almost everywhere he traveled. Ben and Janelle discovered that they both liked cruising and visited Alaska, Canada, Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, Hawaii, England, Ireland, Scotland, and France.
Ben was an easy-going man with a good sense of humor and a ready smile for almost everyone. Janelle was still working when Ben retired, so he shared his days with his beloved little dog "Kira" who really liked Ben\'s special tummy rubs.
Ben is survived by his wife Janelle, his mother Patty Quimby. his sisters Lynne (Larry) Helfers, Becky (Keven) Livengood, a nephew and five nieces and numerous cousins.
