Lucille Voltmer-Hinchey, 92, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 with her family by her side.
Lucille was born March 30, 1924 in Craig, Missouri to Ben and Leona (Haer) Rebel. She grew up on a farm and was valedictorian of the 1942 class of Craig High School.
She married Norbert Voltmer on September 7, 1947. They had four children, all of whom survive: Carrol Voltmer, Annette Thornton (John), Glenn Voltmer (Patty), and Fred Voltmer (Debbie). Lucille loved being a wife and mother. Norbert tragically passed away in 1959, leaving Lucille with four young children to raise by herself.
Never one to complain, Lucille moved to St. Joseph and rebuilt her life. She eventually married Jim Hinchey, and they bore one son, Patrick Hinchey (Tammy), who survives.
Lucille will always be remembered for her positive attitude. She was slow to anger and never said a bad word about anyone. She constantly encouraged and always loved.
In her spare time, Lucille enjoyed cross stitching, watching The Price is Right, cooking and baking, talking on the phone, gardening and helping her family however she was able.
Lucille loved her church family at St. Paul Lutheran and the family takes comfort knowing she is now with Jesus.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her sister, Evelyn. She leaves behind her brother, Orville Rebel, her 5 children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and their spouses, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was loved dearly and surrounded by family until the very end.
