James R. Neely, 69, Craig, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at a St. Joseph hospital.

He was born on July 17, 1928, in Craig, where he graduated high school.

He farmed near Craig, before moving to Enid, Okla., in 1961. In Enid, he worked as a driller in the oil fields. He retired from Texaco in 1985. During World War II, he served in the Army.

Mr. Neely was a member of the American Legion Story-Hardin Post No. 164, Craig.

On Aug. 7, 1961, he married Winifred Morris in Las Vegas. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louise Neely, and a daughter, Lynda Neely.

Additional survivors: an aunt, Mary F. Felumb, Mound City, Mo.

Services: Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997, Craig Christian Church.
Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Mo.
