Funeral services for Ernest A. Steele were held at 2:00 o\\'clock Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 30, in the Minter Funeral Home, Rock Port, Mo., with the Rev. Neil Dubach officiating. Mrs. Paul Deatz accompanied Mrs. B.W. Nauman and Mrs. Duane Deatz as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross\\' ad "Beyond the Sunset."
Pallbearers were Wesley Christian, Everett Linville, Otto Sutto, Lee Renshaw, Gus Minter, Jr., and Ralph Sweaton.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, near Craig.
Mr. Steele, 97, son of Robert and Georgia Abbott Steele, was born December 27, 1881, and died Saturday night, Sept. 27, at his home in Kansas City, after an illness of about a year. He was a native of Ozark, Ark.
Mr. Steele was a retired section foreman for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. He spent most of his 38 years with the railroad in the Corning, and Craig area. He retired in 1955 and moved to Kansas City. He was a member of the Corning Christian Church and of the Royal Neighbors of America.
He was preceded in death by one son, Arnold Steele.
Survivors include his wife, Mayme Steele of the home; three sons, Max Steele and Marion Steele, both of Rock Port; a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Lampton, Kansas City; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
