War World IIMr. Raymond O. Biermann, 81, Mound City, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at his home.
Born Oct. 19, 1921, in Craig, Mo. He graduated from Mound City High School in 1939 and attended the American School of Commerce, Omaha, Neb. He has lived on the family farm since 1931.
Mr. Biermann was a dairy and grain farmer for 26 years and was awarded the Balance Farming Award by the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce in 1962 and the Kansas City Chamber in 1965. He was a Career Agent with Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance, where he worked from 1972 to 1984.
He served in the United States Army 423rd Medical Collecting Company in World War II. He served in Europe, involved in four campaigns, Northern France, Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He was a charter member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Mound City, where he served in various capacities for over 50 years. He helped organize and was a charter member of the former Holt County Cooperative Association, where he served as secretary for over 25 years.
He was a member of the International Lutheran Laymen\\\\'s League; American Legion; Holt County Farm Bureau Board Member; former board member of the State Theater Arts Council; and treasurer of Mound City Kiwanis. His service to his community is further evident by the fact that he delivered meals to the homebound in Mound City for 15 years and volunteered at the Mound City Elementary School for numerous years. Ray enjoyed jogging, walking and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Martha (Heine) Biermann; and three brothers, Alvin, Wilbur and Bruno.
Survivors: seven nephews, Duane, Dean, and Daryl Biermann, all of Craig, MO., Bruce Biermann, of Mound City, Greg Biermann of Maitland, MO., Michael Biermann of Heyburn, Idaho, and Charles Biermann of Idaho Falls, Idaho; niece, Marylou Wegener of Berryton, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Biermann of Burley, Idaho, and Ruth Biermann of Craig; and numerous other family members.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Conocordia Lutheran Church, Mound City, Mo.
Interment: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Mo.
