Virginia Louise Drewes, 89, died Friday, January 11, 1985 in Tiffany Heights Nursing Home, Mound City. She was born October 27, 1985 on a farm south of Craig. As a young woman she attended the Maryville Teacher\\\'s College and taught in the rural schools. She was a member of the Mound City Christian Fellowship Church.

Virginia was married to Ernest Drewes on February 26, 1919. They lived near Craig until 1942 when they moved to a farm south of Graham. They resided there over 41 years until July, 1983, when they moved to Mound City. On Feb. 26, 1984, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, on Sept. 10, 1984, two sons, Billy, and an infant, her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Surviving are one son, Bane Drewes, his wife, Lois, and one daughter, Faire Schoonover, and her husband, James, all of Mound City; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; Ann Kunkel, her husband, Gary, and Kristen, Kara, and Ka Lea; John Schoonover, his wife, Kayla, and Jared and Jonathan; Jill Asher, her husband, Dave, and Caleb and Joshua; Terry Drewes, his wife, Lara, and Renai; Gay Quick, her husband, Tommy, and Matthew and Mark, and Bryce Schoonover; many nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered as a faithful wife, a kind and loving Mother, and Grandma, and one always willing to lend a helping hand.

Services were conducted by Stephen Elder, assisted by Jim Brown and Merrill Ferguson, Sunday afternoon, January 13, 1985 at 2;30 in the Craig Christian Church. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig.

Pallbearers were Nelson Randall, Clavel Howard, Max Shubert, Stanley Randall, William Drewes, and Robert Drewes.
