Byron Fitzgerald died Tuesday night, June 23, at his home in Craig after a long illness.
The son of W.B. Fitzgerald and Leona Steffey Fitzgerald, he was born Jan. 5, 1909, near Craig and spent his entire life in the Craig community.
When a young man he became a member of the Methodist Church.
In 1914, he was married to Ailene Yandell. They were the parents of three sons.
Byron was preceded in death by his son, Lee; his parents; a half-sister, Ora Waite, and a sister, Marjorie.
He is survived by his wife, Aliene, of the home in Craig; two sons, Bill, of Snyder, Texas, and Leslie of Craig; his sister, Nora May Eckard of Iowa city, Ia.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday afternoon, June 27, at the Schooler funeral Home in Craig, with Rev. Jack Yates officiating. Mrs. Betty Wennihan, accompanied by Mrs. Mavis Thomson, sang "How Great Thou Art."
Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery near Craig.
Pallbearers were Alfred Ideker, George Gaskill, Harold Gray, Dwayne Rebel, Delbert Carlton and Floyd Ray Quimby.
