Until 1916 there was no cemetery particularly for the town of Craig, burials being made in the existing community or private cemeteries of the surrounding area, chiefly Guilliams, Parrish, Williams, New Liberty and Tharp.
In 1915, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge decided to sponsor a cemetery. A purchase of 40 acres of land, development of the cemetery, and the first burial occurred in 1916.
