Mrs. Clara Ernsting, 81, a longtime resident of Craig, Mo., died Monday afternoon, July 14, in the Fairfax Community Hospital where she had been a patient a few days. She had been living in an Oregon nursing home several years. She had been a lifelong resident of Craig, except for the years 1911 to 1918 when she lived at Albert, Kansas.
She was born at Craig on May 1, 1888, the daughter of William and Marie Helfers Heine. She was baptized by the Rev. Charles H. Lentzsch at St. Peter\\\'s Lutheran Church, Craig, on May 30, 1888. Rev. Lentzsch confirmed her on May 11, 1902, and performed her marriage rite on Nov. 23, 1907 to Henry Frederick Ernsting, with whom she lived until the death of her husband on June 2, 1963. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Charles Pool, at Thursday, July 17, in St. Peter\\\'s Lutheran\\\'s Church, of which she was a member. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig.
Pallbearers were Alfred Ideker, Edmund Drewes, Emmett Vonderschmidt, Charles Thurnau, Kenneth Haer and Arnold Rehm.
Mrs. Ernsting is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Laura Ideker, Mrs. Rosie Thurnau, and Mrs. Mabel Herzberger, Clarinda, Iowa; two sons, Alfred Ernsting, Tucson, Ariz., and Virgil Ernsting, Hemet, Calif., one brother, Fred Heine, LaCross, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. Henry Taylor, Craig; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
