Harold M. Gray, 78, of Mound City, MO., formerly of Craig and St. Joseph, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Gray spent most of his life as a retail Mobile Oil Co. dealer in Craig. During World War II, he served in the Air Force.
Born on a farm north of Craig on Aug. 1, 1921, he lived in St. Joseph for a short time. He spent most of his life in Craig and was a resident of a Mound City health-care center for 1 1/2 years.
He was a graduate of the Craig high school. Mr. Gray was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis Club, Story-Hardin American Legion Post No. 164, and Masonic Lodge, all of Craig. He served on the board of the Bank of Craig and as a sexton for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery.
On Oct. 13, 1939, he married Joan Walkup. She survives at the same health-care center in Mound City.
Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Maud; four brothers, Dean, Don, Carl and Emery; a sister, Doris Cooper; and a grandchild.
Additional survivors; two daughters, Jackye Sprague, Harrisonville, Mo., and Pam Nowling, Vacaville, Calif.; a brother, Ralph, Craig; three sisters, Edna Griffin, Victorville, Calif., and Marion Ingram and Hope Helfers, both of Craig; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Presbyterian Church, Craig, Mo.
Burial: Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Craig, Mo.
Arrangements: Schooler Funeral Home, Craig, Mo.
