Died Nov. 10, 1921 in Saint Joseph, MO
Henry Helfers died at the Noyes hospital in St. Joseph, Nov. 10, 1921, following an operation for the amputation of his leg. Mr. Helfers was injured in a runaway on the 15th day of July 1919, and lived almost two years and four months after the accident. He had been bedfast since that time. His left leg was broken in two places at the time and everything has been done in an effort to save the leg. It was decided to amputate the leg this week and he was taken to St. Joseph on the noon train, Wednesday. He was accompanied by his wife, Dr. J.C. Ottman and George Vonderschmidt. The body will be brought to Craig on the early morning train. The time of the funeral is not known.

After a fight for more than two years, Henry Helfers is dead. Though it all, he was the same cheerful, good fellow. His many friends will be sorry to hear of his death.

Henry Helfers was born in Germany on January 22, 1884. He was 37 years old at the time of his death. He was married in 1912 to Miss Emma Ideker, and to this union three children were born, Bernhardt, Velton, and Elvia, who with his wife survive.
