Ray A. Kent was born in Bigelow, Missouri on April 6, 1917, the son of Alfred and Susan (Hunt) Kent.

In August of 1939 he married Belva Marie Cunningham. She passed away in 1949.

Ray farmed, and raised row crops. He moved to Mound City in 1997.

Ray passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at a Mound City care center at the age of 96.

In addition to his wife, Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Carl; sister, Leta Smith; and sons-in-law, Victor Wang and Kenny Gillenwater.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Saundra Rae Wang of Mound City; Linda and Bobby Sipes of Mound City; and Vicki and Jim Moore of Trenton, Missouri; brother-in-law, Frank Cunningham of Mound City; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Curran of Gravois Mills, Missouri and Betty Cummins of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved to travel.

Services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. Family visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Interment will be at the Craig I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
