The son of John and Hazel Rowlett Redmon, he was born July 18, 1932, on a farm near Craig, lived several years in the Craig-Mound City area, and graduated from Mound City High School in 1950.
A retired Air Force veteran, he served in London, England, where he met his wife, the former Mary Gene Kelly; also served in Vietnam, and had been affiliated with the Correction Facility at Richards Gebaur, Kansas City; Tyndall Air Base, Florida; and Mather Air Base, Sacramento.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Gene; two sons, John R. Redmon Jr., and Cory J. Redmon, all of Sacramento; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Nauman, Mound City, and one sister, Wilda Holland, Craig.
Services were set for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in the Craig Church of the Nazarene, with burial in the IOOF Cemetery, Craig.
