Fern Elaine Root, 75, Craig, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at St. Luke\\\'s Hospital, Kansas City.
Mrs. root was born in Hamilton, Kan., Feb. 9, 1926, to Homer and Selma Sharp Quimby. Her father died in 1936, and her mother later married Frank Martin.
On Jan. 10, 1941, she married Floyd Nowling in Oregon, Mo. He preceded her in death. She later married Elmer Root. he also preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and became a member of the First Christian Church of Craig in 1985.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Warren, Gene and Floyd Quimby; a stepbrother, Dale Martin; a sister, Dorothy Quimby; and a stepsister, Ruth Bradley.
Survivors include two sons, and a daughter-in-law, David Dean Nowling of Craig, and Glen and Pam Nowling of Vacaville, Calif.; a half brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Rita Martin of Franklin, Wisc.; a stepsister, Roberta O\\\'Shel of Emporia, Kan.; sisters-in-law Doris Quimby of Savannah, Beverly Quimby of Craig, and Margaret Martin of Fairfax; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services tentatively are on Friday, at the Christian Fellowship Church, Mound City, the Rev. Jim Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Mo.
