George Scott, 83, St. Joseph, Mo., died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at a St. Joseph hospital.
He was born July 21, 1919, in Craig, Mo., the son of George and Katherine Scott.
He served in the Army during World War II and then moved to St. Joseph where he resided for the remainder of his life.
He married Cassie Blankenship Stafford March 9, 1975, in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo Mead; a son, George Mead; a brother, Jack Scott; and five sisters, Lucille Dryden, Mary Kent, Lena Gillispie, Emmy Blankenship, and Josephine Anno.
He is also survived by a sister, Fannie Riggle of Oregon; three step-children; a granddaughter, Sally Scott O\\\'Hara, who he raised, and three other grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday at Clark-Sampson Chapel, St. Joseph. The Marine Corps League, Detachment 180, provided military services.
Private graveside services and burial were held Monday in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Mo.
