World War IILee "Eugene" Tubbs, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at his home.
Eugene was born in Omaha, Neb., on April 20, 1925, to Lee and Eugenia tubs. He moved to the Bigelow/Craig, Mo., area as a child, where he lived and worked with his uncle, Chris Tubbs.
He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Wasp during World War II. He later met and married Catherine Barker. He worked as a farmer the remainder of his life in the Bigelow/Craig area.
Eugene was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; and infant son; his parents; and two grandchildren, Michael and Andrea Jewett.
Eugene is survived by seven children, Donald and Geneva Tubbs, Thomas and Dana Tubbs, and Phyllis Tubbs, all of Bigelow, Mo., Terry and Iva Tubbs, Craig, Diane Jewett, St. Joseph, Mo., Pamella and David Brown, Olathe, Kans., and Deborah and Gary Shelley, Las Vegas, Nev.; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Presbyterian Church in Craig, Mo.
Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Mo., with military rites under the direction of Story-Hardin American Legion Post #164, American Legion.
Services were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Craig, Mo.
