Genevieve G (Horn) Paulson

She was born April 30, 1905, in Craig, the daughter of John and Zua Butler Horn.

She grew up in Craig and graduated from Craig High School in 1923.

She married James August Paulson April 30, 1924. They lived in Montana for a year then returned to Craig. Two children were born to this union, Joan A. and James Craig. Mr. Paulson died in 1937, leaving his family to survive The Great Depression. Genevieve moved, with her children, into her parents\\\' home, took a course in cosmetology and bought the only beauty shop in Craig. During World War II, she took her children to Detroit where she worked as an inspector in a war plant.

Later she served for a year as a missionary in the Kentucky mountains, then attended school in Chicago to continue preparation for the ministry. As a preacher and song evangelist, she traveled in many states.

In 1948, she married H.E. (Bill) Thompson and continued her ministry from Falls City, Neb., at various times serving as pastor of two churches and supplying pulpits over northeast Kansas, northwest Missouri, and much of Nebraska. From 1963 to 1984, she owned an operated an income tax service.

Mr. Thompson died in 1970 and Genevieve moved back to Craig where she served as Sunday School teacher from 1972 to the present and as a board member and member of the NWMS Council of the Church of the Nazarene. She was a charter member of that church.

In 1937, Genevieve met the Lord Jesus Christ in a life-changing experience. She loved Him to the end.

She leaves a large body of published poetry and prose.

She also was preceded in death by her son, James C. Paulson; her daughter, Joan Liggett; two sisters, Clara Belle Brandon and Edna Raiser; and a granddaughter, Joyce Blunt.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Shirley Paulson, of Craig; s stepson, John Thompson and his wife, Mickie of Niles, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Thompson Krause of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; five nieces; and one nephew.

Funeral services were Friday at the Craig Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Rob Self officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig.
Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax, Mo., were in charge of arrangements.
